At the start of the series, he was a shy, extremely withdrawn boy, finding solace only whilst digging tunnels for the expansion of Jiha village. Through the encouragement of his blood brother, Kamina, Simon found the courage to stand above the grounds he once dug under. This strength blossoming further at the discovery of his gunmen dubbed; LAGANN. Through the act of combining, Lagann took the body of another Gunmen to become the legendary mecha known through the Multiverse known as GURREN LAGANNOver time and through the battles fought to ensure a better tomorrow, Simon becomes much more outgoing and fired-up as opposed to his younger-self. He revels in being able to fight alongside his friends. In the final battle against the Antispiral, Simon develops a hybrid personality between himself and and his brother Kamina, wherein he leads the team in a hot-blooded assault against the Antispiral using the bravado once exhibited by Kamina without the arrogance or foolhardiness which frequently landed Kamina in trouble against tougher opponents.Simon maintains this bravado as well as exhibits his evolution through a lack of timidness. Full of words to lift the weak and to strike fear into the strong, Simon ensures that any who cross his path remembers JUST WHO THE HELL HE IS.

GURREN | LAGANN

〝 The combining of courage that sets a man’s soul on fire. Gurren Lagann. Just who the hell do you think I am, fuzzball?! From here on the name of this gunmen is Gurren Lagann! 〞

ABILITIES. Its powers and fighting capabilities are almost entirely based on its ability to generate drills of greatly varying size, shape and usage from multiple points on its body. Over the course of the series Gurren Lagann produced dozens of different uses for its drills, ranging from projectiles and missiles to shields, water screws and various melee applications. The most powerful attack seen used by Gurren Lagann is the Giga Drill Break and its variants, where the pilot forms a huge amount of spiral power into an enormous drill or number of drills bigger than the mech itself.Its additional abilities shown in the series include a durable energy shield, which can deflect energy blasts even at short range, the ability to wield the sunglasses on the Gurren's chest as a melee weapon (a sword or boomerang usually), a short-term regenerative function which can restore accumulated damage for the duration of Gurren and Lagann's union and the power to rip open a worm hole in space to travel great distances.By the end of the series, Gurren Lagann managed to surpass the tremendous level of power that was possessed by STTGL and managed to summon enough power to destroy the Super Granzeboma, with its final Giga Drill Break. It could traverse the distance between to two Universal-sized mechs, both of which were billions of light years apart, as well as assimilating every other Gurren Lagann form's abilities. Each form this Gunmen takes more towering than the last. Each accumulating more and more spiral power until eventually reaching a strength that transcends space and time. Unbounded by the limitations placed by the Multiverse around them or even the narrative written for them.

ACROSS A SEA OF STARS. The beautiful bride of the digger known as Nia Teppelin. Their stories intertwined to create a drill that would pierce through the heavens. Beginning in his youth, Simon finds a cloud drifting far away from the skies as it hovers on the surface searching for a home. Initially speechless from her her beauty, he invites her with a tattered hand and welcomes her into his rebellious team where she would find a place to belong alongside him. By his side as he fights for an abandoned world, Nia serves as his key motivation to overcome the impossible. By the end, the battle for the surface is won by the humans and peace is restored as a future with her finally begins.Years drift by and the world celebrates endless days of peace but something remains lost. After building the courage to face a possible future once more, Simon proposes to Nia; promising his life in exchange for her own. Fate however tears them apart. Struck ill, Nia succumbs to her fate and dies by the end of their wedding.All hope lost. All he had found now no more. However, those who defy fate will always find a way to twist it. Love can corrupt a man to make the impossible possible. To even break free his bride from the Heavens so she may live once more in the present. This was a new tale about two lovers who defied even the gods for just a chance at another life together again.

DEFYING FATE ITSELF. Summoned by his hands, the rider class servant was chosen to stand alongside him against any and all adversaries. What she found however was not a master but a friend. Seen only as a creature of destruction, her faith in humanity had dwindled. Sought by all for her strength and it’s endless possibilities yet found by a man who only wished to show her the beauty of the world and what lies beyond it.Hesitant but obliging to her new masters desires, every night she would find herself gazing at the twinkling lights in the sky. Searching for why her master was so fond of them. Why he was so fond of her despite all seeing but a beast. As the two walk a spiraling path forwards, she finds herself falling more and more for her summoner. Unknown to the reality that he already was stolen by her unrivaled beauty. Where this path ends? Fate nor destiny could tell. Only time knows the answer.

BREWING CHEMISTRY. Hired on after the departure of his mechanic Leyte, Simon recruited a genius who came across the Multiverse fascinated by the endless possibilities that spiral power offered. An energy that could create constructs only limited by the imagination. With the added bonus of being able to personally tend to his legendary Gunmen, the woman took his offer and joined the prestigious team of Dai-Gurren.Immediately Simon’s mole companion Boota took a liking to her. Finding her irresistible to stare in awe at. It was only after constant gawking from the mole did Simon finally open his eyes to find just exactly what drove his friend to their newest member. Now he too finds himself caught in a trance at every moment she passes by. As she continues to support him in his endeavors he can only hope that perhaps someday her eyes will flutter back.

THE SPIRAL HEART. The cape that follows behind the great Simon The Digger is a symbol of defiance. He who defies fate. He who denies destiny. He who goes against the gods. The symbol on his back represents the dreams of those behind him sitting comfortably on his back urging him forwards. This single piece of fabric grants any wearer the courage to travel across the universe. A cape he granted to a heart shrouded in darkness in order to help it see the light again. The tale of the digger who dug through the dark to find the REMIX HEART.This cape would become a piece of Mai that would blanket her in safety for endless long nights. Inspiring her to fight to someday reunite with the man who ignite a boundless strength within. On his return to her world his stay was extended much longer than before. Across many worlds had had never found a more gentle soul. Suddenly their positions had changed. The digger found himself inspired by her endless tenacity. He found himself falling for the remix heart. A sentiment that she seemingly shares with him.A love meant to be? Or perhaps friends till the end? An unfinished tale with an anticipated conclusion.

AIM FOR THE HEART. A duo that took on the surface. Yoko has remained a loyal partner to the digger since they crossed paths so long ago. Opening his eyes to what lied beyond the holes he dug, the two have faced every danger and trampled every obstacle together in hopes of creating the world their fallen friend would dream of. With everything the two lost it was only natural that they would finally find something to gain in each other.Working as partners for what felt like an eternity felt unsuited for them. Their growing infatuations through every mission further solidified that what they were meant to be is lovers that conquered the surface so they may spread their desires for one another as far as the moon.
